Our Special Olympics Program

The Northern Skating Academy's Special Olympics skating program aims to offer sessions for skaters with intelectual disabilities to enjoy the sport of skating in a supportive and encouraging environment. Our program is designed as a modified Skate Canada CanSkate Learn to Skate program. The modifications reduce environmental stimulation and allows skaters to move freely through their learn to skate skills on a circuit at their own pace with a focus on more one-on-one time with coaches and program assistants as needed. We also offer our athletes the opportunity to compete with figure skating solos at various Skate Ontario competitions and events!
