COVID-19 OPERATION PROTOCOLS & SAFETY PLAN

The Northern Skating Academy ensures compliance with COVID-19 operating standards as directed by the province of Ontario, the Greater City of Sudbury, Skate Canada, and Skate Ontario. If any members or participants are not in compliance with the following protocols, the NSA withholds the right to request the member or participant to be removed from or not attend any NSA activities.

All participants and coaching staff must:

  • If 12+ years of age, present proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 (both doses) along with identification* at the point of entry to the arena.
  • Respond to the Ontario COVID-19 screening questionnaire and show your results to the session coordinator prior to entering the public facility (linked below).
  • Must provide the City of Greater Sudbury with a signed waiver form prior to use of their facilities. (Find attached below). Please print, sign, and deliver (e-mail or in person) to the NSA prior to your session as necessary.
  • Must complete the online Skate Ontario COVID-19 waiver and e-mail to the NSA prior to program participation (linked below).
  • Wear a mask when inside common areas of public spaces including the lobby, dressing room, and prior to stepping on the ice, as well as whenever a distance between you and another person of 2 meters cannot be achieved on the ice.
  • Sneeze and cough into your elbow, and at a distance from others when possible.
  • Blow your nose at a distance from others and sanitizer your hands after doing so.
  • Place your used tissues into a baggy and dispose of them after the session or at home.
  • Provide your own personal water bottle and tissue box.
  • Handle only your own personal items. No sharing of equipment is permitted.
  • Upon a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 diagnosis of you or a member of your immediate circle, or returning from travel outside of Canada, wait a minimum of 14 days to return to any NSA activities, or ensure a negative COVID-19 result.
  • Notify the NSA if you or a member of your immediate circle have a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • Limit spectators to only one person per household.
  • Limit carpooling to only members within your household and wear a mask if carpooling with members outside of your household.
  • Arrive no sooner than 15 minutes prior to the scheduled session start time and must depart no later than 15 minutes after the end of the session.

All members who are not also acting as participants must:

  • If 12+ years of age, present proof of full vaccination for COVID-19 (both doses) along with identification* at the point of entry to the arena. 
  • If under 11 years of age, must be accompanied by an adult who is fully vaccinated and provides identification* proof at the point of entry to the arena. 
  • Must provide the City of Greater Sudbury with a signed waiver form prior to use of their facilities. (Find attached below). Please print, sign, and deliver (e-mail or in person) to the NSA prior to your first session.
  • Respond to the Ontario COVID-19 screening questionnaire and show your results to the session coordinator prior to entering the public facility (linked below).
  • Wear a mask at all times when in public facilities.
  • Notify the NSA if you or a member of your immediate circle have suspected or confirmed cases of COVID-19.
  • Limit spectating to only one person per household.
  • Limit carpooling to only members within your household and wear a mask if carpooling with members outside of your household.
  • Arrive no sooner than 20 minutes prior to the scheduled session start time and must depart no later than 20 minutes after the end of the session.

The Northern Skating Academy agrees to adhere to all necessary and achievable precautions to ensure the safety of our participants and members through:

  • Provide the City of Greater Sudbury with signed participant and attendee waiver forms prior to use of their facilities.
  • Provide Skate Ontario with completed COVID-19 waivers from participants and coaching staff.
  • Enforcing the practice of the session coordinator checking screening results prior to skaters entering the facility.
  • Enforcing maintaining physical distancing of at least 2 meters whenever possible.
  • Enforcing wearing masks properly when physical distancing is not possible.
  • Enforcing participants to frequently use hand sanitizer.
  • Maintaining tracing records of all participants and spectators who attend sessions.
  • Delivering the Greater City of Sudbury and Skate Ontario Health Screening Questionnaire to all participants prior to all sessions.
  • Refraining from touching participants.
  • Limiting coaching staff, participants, and members from touching the same objects and sanitizing if they do.
  • Sanitizing all NSA equipment.
  • Limiting time spent in person with members and participants off the ice.
  • Reinforcing arrival and departure times at sessions to adhere to 15-minute dressing room and spectator policy.
  • Reporting any known positive cases of COVID-19 to the City of Greater Sudbury.
  • Enforcing COVID-19 policies created by The Greater City of Sudbury, Skate Canada, and Skate Ontario.
  • Deferring or refunding members payment of their sessions to encourage participants if they are required to self-isolate due to COVID-19 to do so as necessary.
  • Canceling any sessions that may be deemed too risky due to updates to the current climate of the COVID-19 pandemic.

*Proof of identity can be established using documentation issued by an institution or public body, provided it includes the name of the holder and date of birth. Examples of identification documents that may be used to confirm the identity of the holder of the vaccine receipt include: email receipt • birth certificate • citizenship card • driver’s license • government (Ontario or other) issued identification card, including health card• status card/Indigenous membership card • passport • permanent resident card
